Karolinska Institutet, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society

The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 540 employees and a revenue 2023 of 530 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.

Aging Research Center (ARC), a division within NVS, is located at KI Campus Solna, Stockholm. It is a multidisciplinary academic environment, representing medicine (e.g., neurology, epidemiology, psychiatry, geriatrics), psychology (e.g., cognition, structural, functional, and molecular brain imaging), and social gerontology (e.g., sociology, public health, social epidemiology, social work). The center has around 70 employees, it has a strong focus on research with unique research resources, such as large-scale longitudinal studies and nationwide registries.

Your mission

As a Senior Statistician, your mission will be to lead and execute advanced statistical analyses that address complex research questions using data from multiple longitudinal, population-based studies and large-scale register data. You will apply sophisticated methods such as nominal response models, Markov models, multi-state models, or individual participant-level meta-analyses to generate impactful insights. By collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, you will contribute to the design and implementation of cutting-edge analytic strategies that drive scientific innovation, improve decision-making, and advance knowledge in the field of healthy aging. Your expertise will be instrumental in translating intricate data into meaningful results that inform policy, practice, and further research.

This is a full-time employment of 12 months.

Your profile

The successful candidate is expected to have:

  • Master’s degree in statistics and/or data analytics
  • Solid background in real-world evidence analysis, public health analytics, and advanced statistical methodologies.
  • Advanced skills in handling complex datasets, including electronic health records and population-based studies, with expertise in tools like R, SAS, SQL, and STATA.
  • Proven ability to design studies, develop statistical analysis plans, and generate actionable insights.
  • Experience participating in multidisciplinary teams and delivering impactful research outcomes.
  • Strong ability to present complex findings clearly and contribute to scientific publications and policy-oriented reports.
