We are seeking a motivated and ambitious immunologist to join our team of highly based at the Centre for Infectious Medicine (CIM). The research interest is focused on allergic immunology and specifically the role of human T cell and ILC2 immunometabolism. We study how type 2 lymphocytes adapt their metabolic needs to their local tissue environment and perturbations that are caused by allergic inflammation. Working in close collaboration with Professor Jenny Mjösberg's group, the team of Dr. Chris Tibbitt offers an engaging and diverse environment where you will contribute towards high quality research (Björkander*, Maier* et al., Allergy 2023, Tibbitt et al., Immunity 2019, Science Immunology 2021, Science Immunology 2017) on an internationally competitive level that involves both basic and translational immunology.   

Your mission

Using the latest techniques in metabolic profiling and single-cell RNA sequencing the candidate will map the metabolic profiles of human  type 2 lymphocytes across a range of tissues and inflammatory conditions (asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis). Your main role will be to handle patient material from our unique cohorts to establish shared and unique  molecular mechanisms driving allergic responses as well as treatment responses. You will have the opportunity to work within an interdisciplinary with clinical colleagues (KLA, Huddinge Hospital) as well as an international colloborators.

We are located at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge, which is an inclusive workplace, encouraging collaborative departmental and interdisciplinary research. This is a position of two years with possibility of extension.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a phd or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish phd is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in molecular and cellular immunology. The candidate will also perform multi-parameter flow cytometry, ELISA, Seahorse, single and/or bulk RNA Sequencing,  siRNA/ lentiviral ‘knock-downs’ and in vitro cultures using ILCs and T cells extracted from tissue samples. Experience working with R and Python is a merit. The individual will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment meaning excellent communications skills are essential. It is expected that the postdoctoral researcher will eventually supervise students and other researchers, as well as contribute to common lab duties.

The successful applicant will have a proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently while contributing to a collaborative research environment. Proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential for effective communication and reporting. We put great emphasis on personal suitability for this role.
