Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

In the research group "Receptor biology & signaling" led by Professor Gunnar Schulte, the focus is on G protein-coupled receptors and in particular class F receptors. The work aims to better understand how ligands interact with class F receptors and their coreceptors, how conformational changes are established to activate the receptors and consequently to initiate interaction and activation of intracellular signaling components. Functional selectivity of class F receptors against heterotrimeric G-proteins or other pathways is analyzed in the hope of exploiting the new knowledge therapeutically.

Your mission

The research project aims to understand the underlying molecular details of class F receptor activation and communication with coreceptors for future drug development. The project brings together disciplines such as cell biology, pharmacology, biophysics and molecular biology. The highly motivated candidate, with a strong background in GPCR pharmacology, is expected to drive the research project, technical development and concept development from idea to publication. The candidate's broad expertise in wet lab and assay development is expected to serve as a resource to the research team. The candidate will participate in the supervision of master's and doctoral students. In addition to lab work, the applicant is expected to take an active, constructive and developing part in lab management.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a phd or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish phd is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

The applicant should have an in-depth background in biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology with an emphasis on GPCR pharmacology. Solid experience in cell culture, protein biochemistry, resonance energy transfer (FRET/BRET) techniques, ligand binding experiments, cloning, assay design and assay validation is required. Documented experience (previous high-quality publications) with GPCR pharmacology is a requirement.
