Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

We are now looking for a research assistant to Paul Petrus research group, Petrus lab | Karolinska Institutet

Our group aims to understand the mechanistic interplay between circadian disruption and metabolic-mental comorbidities, as well as evaluate the potential of chronotherapies to mitigate these dysfunctions. Our team leverages cutting-edge methods in systems biology, bioinformatics, and molecular biology to study how circadian rhythms regulate inter-organ coordination, with the goal of developing treatments targeting multimorbidities.

We are an interdisciplinary group of researchers with access to advanced research facilities, including specialized laboratories for circadian experiments and high-throughput sequencing technologies.

Your mission

Our ongoing project explores how simulated shiftwork affects metabolic and mental health. Key tasks include analyzing RNA sequencing data from a large multi-organ atlas to identify circadian pathways disrupted by shiftwork, validating findings through molecular biology techniques, and assisting with experiments to evaluate potential chronotherapies.

The position is temporary for six months, with the possibility of extension depending on project progress and funding.

Your profile

Applicants should hold a master’s degree or equivalent in molecular biology, bioinformatics, or a related field. Experience in RNA sequencing analysis, qPCR, Western blotting, or animal handling is advantageous. Familiarity with circadian biology and bioinformatics pipelines is meritorious. Candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and proficiency in written and spoken English.

We place great importance on personal suitability.
