The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Research at the department is focused on how different societal and individual factors affect population health, and to develop and evaluate structural and individual-oriented interventions. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department has 12 research groups, about 110 PhD students and about 140 employees.

The position will be within Implementation And Quality (IMPAQT) led by Claudia Hanson. Your will find a unique opportunity to be part of large international consortia with members in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe and strong links to leading institutions within the field in Europe and beyond. The work will link to leading statisticians and epidemiologists at our department. 

Your mission

Your work will include a wider portfolio of research and teaching.  The main tasks will be to support epidemiological analysis, using advanced methods of prediction modelling.  You will lead and support paper writing. We also expect some engagement in teaching in the field of epidemiology, supervising students at MSc and PhD level as well as contributing to new grant applications. Thus, we are looking for an independent researcher with strong epidemiological skills. The applicant should be willing to perform duty travels as required. 

This position is for 2 years with an extent of 100%. 

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a phd or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish phd is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

We are looking for a motivated candidate with excellent skills in intercultural communication and very good collaboration skills.

The following requirements are mandatory:

  • A doctoral degree in epidemiology, public health, data science or similar.
  • Experience of working in maternal and perinatal health, particularly perinatal epidemiology.
  • A track record of publications, particular as first author.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language is required, both in speaking and in writing.
  • Excellent knowledge of programming skills in common statistical software, for instance STATA.
  • Experience in developing prediction models and analysing nationwide register-based data.

The following aspects are meritorious:

  • Experience in teaching and supervising students at the master level.
  • A background in medicine.
  • We would like to see a candidate with an interest in mentoring and supporting young scholars in writing papers.
