We welcome applications for a postdoc position in Prof Ådén´s team that studies neonatal brain development, neonatal brain injuries and novel intervention strategies. The position will be placed in the Department of Women´s and Children´s Health at the Karolinska Institutet at our experimental lab in Biomedicum. The Postdoctoral Fellow that joins the team will be investigating brain development in children who were critically ill early in life.
The project is focused on development of structural and functional networks in the immature brain. The work will be performed using MR data from neonates and children. The project explores the brain development in typically developing and children with neurodevelopmental delay in close contact with pediatric neuroscientists, and clinical researchers from a translational perspective.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctoral researcher is one who has a PhD in neuroscience or neuroimaging or has equivalent scientific competence. Previous experience in advanced analysing of pediatric neuroimaging handling large datasets, processing and analyzing structural, functional, and diffusion MRI data for neonates and children is important. Experience in using advanced statistical techniques, including Principal Component Analysis, Factor Analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling, machine learning algorithms, to build predictive models are required. Applicants wishing to integrate computational approaches are especially encouraged to apply.
We are looking for a creative, hard-working and highly self-motivated person with a strong interest in brain injury and development. Experience in working with pediatrics neuroimaging is highly desired; Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal) are required.
The successful candidates should be able to work independently, but also have the interpersonal and communication skills to succeed at working in a multidisciplinary team. They should have a deep sense of responsibility, take initiatives and have the capacity and flexibility to work with researchers and students of different expertise.
Experience of work in international research laboratories and recommendations from previous supervisors/teachers are appreciated. Personal suitability is of great importance when evaluating the applicants.
It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
