Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Rydén and Mejhert Laboratory investigates how alterations in human white adipocyte function contribute to cardiometabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and atherosclerosis. Our multidisciplinary team, comprising 15–20 members—senior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, PhD and master’s students, and technical staff—conducts cutting-edge translational research. We are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a comprehensive preclinical laboratory at NEO and a dedicated clinical research unit at Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge, enabling seamless integration from basic science to clinical application.

Your mission

Join us in a cutting-edge research effort to understand how insulin-regulated genes shape white adipocyte function, with significant implications for insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Supported by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and an ERC Synergy Grant, this project seeks an ambitious research assistant to contribute to high-impact science through the characterization of selected gene-edited adipocytes using high-resolution microscopy and metabolic analyses. Working within a collaborative team and alongside partner labs in France (Drs. Bruno Antonny and Dominique Langin), you’ll play a vital role in advancing this ongoing research.

This initial six-month position offers the possibility of a six-month extension based on project needs, providing an opportunity for professional growth and impactful discovery in metabolic research.

Your profile

The ideal candidate will hold a master’s degree or equivalent and have hands-on experience in cell culture, gene editing, and metabolic assays, with microscopy skills considered a strong advantage. Proficiency in programming languages such as R or Python is highly desirable. We seek a candidate who can effectively prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a collaborative research environment. Strong written and spoken English skills are essential for communication and reporting.
