We aim to identify genes and related mechanisms involved in determining the risk of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke in apparently healthy individuals. To this end, we use data from large and well-established epidemiological material where a comprehensive collection of genetic and molecular data exist.
At the Division of Cardiology we conduct research in a broad spectrum of cardiology. The division consists of three research groups which in turn are subdivided into smaller scientifically independent groups. We conduct research in the major cardiovascular areas including ischemic heart disease, coronary artery disease/atherosclerosis, heart failure, valvular disease, and cardiac arrhythmias as well as lifestyle style problems. The research is based on clinical problems investigated in the experimental laboratory-based projects and in clinical studies.
During your fellowship you are expected to actively participate in scientific activities such as group meetings and journal clubs. You are going to learn and practice novel methods to perform genetic epidemiological analysis on large and anonymized dataset.
Master degree in epidemiology, or public health, or biostatistics, or bioinformatics. Experience with analysis of large data sets, ability to write scripts for analysis in R are meritorious skills.

Decisions on scholarships may be made for a maximum of six months at a time.
