We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the group of Professor Johan Sandberg as a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on projects concerning the immunobiology of Mucosa-associated Invariant T (MAIT) cells in the context of Staphylococcus aureus infections. The research group is based at CIM, a nationally leading and internationally competitive environment for studies of the human immune system in the context of infectious diseases. CIM is located within the Department of Medicine Huddinge the Karolinska Institutet ANA Futura research facilities in Flemingsberg.
The project will be focused on the anti-microbial responses and functions of human MAIT cells to help understand the role of these cells in health and in disease caused by S. aureus. The candidate will work closely together with Professor Johan Sandberg, focusing on human MAIT cell immunology and the immunopathogenesis of infectious diseases.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a phd or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish phd is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
Applicants must have relevant university education and hold a PhD degree in microbiology or immunology and experience with studies of S. aureus as well as human T cell responses. We are looking for a person with significant experience with multiparameter flow cytometry analysis and sorting, research on human T lymphocytes, and experience with S. aureus microbiology. Good cooperation, independence, communication skills and computer skills are required. Knowledge of Karolinska Institutet's databases (KLARA and ELN) is favorable. Good knowledge in written and spoken English is required. We put great emphasis on personal suitability for this role.
