We are seeking a skilled Bioinformatician to join our production team at the National Genomics Infrastructure (NGI), one of Europe’s largest sequencing facilities, located at SciLifeLab in Solna. The successful applicant will be employed by Karolinska Institutet. NGI-Stockholm provides extensive sequencing services and expertise to Swedish research groups, aiming to advance Swedish research and maintain Sweden’s competitive edge in genomics. Your mission

You will be responsible for quality control of data, running analysis pipelines and delivering sequence data. Additionally, you will develop and maintain informatics solutions to manage the internal data flow of our production. The allocation of your tasks will be significantly influenced by your experience.

As a Bioinformatician, you will:

  • Perform quality control and delivery of sequence data.
  • Run analysis pipelines and interpret results according to best-practice protocols.
  • Administer core IT systems and coordinate software deployments.
  • Automate data transfers and analysis pipelines.
  • Maintain and develop internal information databases.
  • Provide support and communicate with external users.
  • Visualize processes and results. 

Your profile

Requirements:

  • Degree in bioinformatics, computer science, system development or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R or Java.
  • Experience with version control software (e.g., git).
  • Proficiency in Linux/UNIX systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Experience in managing and evaluating sequencing data.
  • Background in bioinformatics, sequencing and handling large data volumes (e.g., NGS data).
  • Experience with computational clusters (HPC and/or Cloud).

Meriting:

  • Experience in web application development and database administration (SQL or noSQL).
  • Familiarity with quality work within accredited organizations and LIMS systems.
  • Practical experience with laboratory work involving DNA and RNA.
