Description of the subject area

At the Center for Health Economics and Policy, research and education in health economics focus on health measures, measurement and valuation of health, health economic evaluation, and policy. The research aims to investigate how society’s resources should be used to achieve efficient resource allocation to improve people’s health. The research includes health economic aspects of cancer (pancreatic cancer/lung cancer/colon cancer), health economic modeling, and health economic evaluation of screening programs, interventions, and precision medicine methods. The research area is characterized by the application of economic theories and methods in healthcare. Using primarily registry data, we answer questions about efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and equity, analyze the effects of healthcare reforms, and compare healthcare providers and systems.

Health economics education is conducted at an advanced level in the master’s programme in health economics, policy, and management. We now want to strengthen our health economics expertise in education and research.
