The Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) core facility at ANA Futura, Center for Infectious Medicine, is an infrastructure at KI Campus Flemingsberg developed to meet the pre-clinical and clinical research environments needs for work with infectious microorganisms, e.g., pathogens that can cause severe human disease and may be transmitted through air. Your mission

Today's research often requires technologically advanced methods and tools. This places high demands on the employees' skills. We are now looking for a temporary research infrastructure specialist during a 6-month period, for the ANA Futura BSL3 Core Facility. The ANA Futura BSL3 Core Facility supports large-scale propagation and concentration of infectious microorganisms, antimicrobial screening, pathogen-host interaction analysis, and tissue/in vitro culture work. The duties of a research infrastructure specialist include providing qualified expertise as well as technical and/or methodological service and development. Your role includes providing support and training to our customers so that the work is carried out in accordance with our guidelines and governing documents. You must also follow up on service and quality assurance of the instrumentation in close collaboration with technical staff. In addition, tasks such as participating in research and education, or administrative work may be included.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for an employment as Research Infrastructure Specialist the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise and been awarded a doctorate or a qualification from a foreign higher education institution deemed equivalent to a Swedish degree of doctor. The applicant must also have demonstrated technological and methodological expertise to be able to support work within the facility. The applicant should have solid experience of microbiological work at biosafety level 3 (BSL3). Have good insight into biosafety regarding work with human microorganisms and sample materials to be performed at biosafety levels 2 and 3. Experience of working with airborne infection is an advantage.

Assessment criteria

We are looking for a person with a PhD in the areas of microbiology, immunology, cell biology or molecular biology/life sciences with publications in internationally renowned peer-reviewed journals. The person should be scientifically driven with good communication skills and the ability to collaborate and work productively in a team. The candidate should also have a strong, documented background in culturing/handling viruses or bacteria as well as experience in performing functional microbiological or immunological analysis as well as flow cytometry. In filling the position, we will place special emphasis on academic skills, demonstrated competence in research, a strong commitment and excellent communication skills. Fluency in English is a requirement.
