Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Romeo lab aims to understand the genetic architecture of Metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and its complex relationship with the components of cardiometabolic syndrome. Our group has a keen interest in leveraging large-scale population-based studies to apply polygenic risk scores for risk profiling within the Endocrinology unit at the Department of Medicine in Huddinge.

Your mission

You will contribute to a project on the genetics of MASLD, previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which may affect up to a third of the population today. As with many complex diseases, MASLD has a strong genetic component. In this newly launched project, you will utilize genome-wide summary statistics of common genetic predictors of MASLD and metabolic syndrome to identify physiologically meaningful MASLD subtypes using machine learning approaches. You will then explore the causal associations between the identified MASLD subtypes and cardiometabolic syndrome using Mendelian randomization.

Your profile

The appointed individual should hold a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification. To be eligible for employment, a strong understanding of statistics and genetics, expertise in programming (R and Python), and knowledge in the field of cardiometabolic diseases are required. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is also mandatory.
