The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC have about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.

MTC is looking for a post-doctoral immunologist/molecular biologist to join Professor Gunilla Karlsson Hedestam's group to contribute to the group's project concerning the analysis of immune repertoires and population variation in adaptive immune receptor genes and its impact on antigen-specific immune responses. The goal is to increase understanding of how our genetic background affects the diversity and function of the adaptive immune response

Your mission

You will work in a fast-paced group that is focused on immunogenetics and functional analyses of antibody responses. The role includes being hands-on in the laboratory, performing extensive data analysis and being the driver of projects with collaborators.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

In addition to the above requirements for the position:

  • A PhD in immunology
  • At least one year’s research experience following the PhD
  • Deep knowledge in molecular biology, immunology and immune repertoire analysis
  • Experience in human monoclonal antibody isolation from single B cells
  • Experience in IG genotype analysis with the tool IgDiscover
  • A genuine interest in understanding adaptive immunity at individual the level
  • Motivated, independent and well-organized
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English
