The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC have about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.
A Bioinformatician position is now available in the laboratory of Immunodeficiency diseases led by Dr Lisa Westerberg (Lisa Westerberg Group). The Westerberg laboratory is located in the top modern Biomedicum building with shared infrastructure for advanced technology platforms and built for interdisciplinary collaborations. Ongoing research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms for development of immunodeficiency diseases with high incidence of autoimmunity and cancer.
The Bioinformatician will be part of several projects to investigate changes in gene expression, chromatin remodeling, and DNA damage response with specific focus on mutations in actin regulators in patient and murine samples. In this role you will analyze RNAseq and ChIP-Seq data of cells with different mutations at actin regulators. The duties include integrating and analyzing scRNAseq datasets of patients with lymphoma. Furthermore, the role involves collaborating with other researchers and PhD students in the lab on diverse data analysis projects, contributing to the design and execution of bioinformatics workflows, data analysis techniques, and project development.
We welcome applications from candidates with a PhD or equivalent degree in bioinformatics, life sciences, computer science, or other similar fields. The tasks will be focused on the analysis of the RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, and single-cell transcriptomics data. The ideal candidate understands the relevant statistical/computational methods and has experience in high-throughput computing and data visualization, being able to extract biologically relevant insights, helping to drive the understanding of the involved molecular mechanisms. You have a passion for science and a problem-solving attitude being able to work in an international and diverse research team.
