The candidate must have practical experience with the ability to train others in techniques including practical animal husbandry, molecular biology, gene and cell therapy, neurobiology techniques including –omics data generation and analysis, microscopy, intraocular microsurgery, retinal imaging and electrophysiology. The successful applicant must have documentation of translational activities (e.g., collaborations with clinicians, activity in clinical trials, working with industry, and innovation within this space). The candidate must possess English skills, both spoken and written.

To be eligible for employment as a research specialist the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise and been awarded a doctorate or a qualification from a foreign higher education institution deemed equivalent to a Swedish Degree of Doctor, and have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.
