The Division of Renal Medicine is part of the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention, and Technology and conducts research in the field of medical kidney diseases with a specific focus on metabolism, inflammation, nutrition, and dialysis. We are now seeking a research assistant to contribute to the research project "Food as Medicine", the position is a fixed-term employment for six months at 50-70% scope. 

Your mission

As a research assistant, you will work within the research area "Food as Medicine." The research focuses on how dietary patterns and nutrients can be used to prevent metabolic disorders that occur when kidney function declines. We also focus on research in the field of nutritional screening for better planning of energy and nutritional needs. To this end, observational and interventional studies are conducted to answer research questions in the field of nutrition and chronic kidney disease. Ultimately, we aim to use customized nutrition as part of the treatment of the disease. The studies are carried out at the clinical renal research unit at Karolinska University Hospital with a team consisting of nephrologists, research nurses and renal nutritionists.

You will assist in four ongoing research projects within the research line "Food as Medicine in CKD". Your tasks will include:

  • Organizing data collection for the projects
  • Calculating nutritional intake from dietary surveys of study participants
  • Organizing the database
  • Participating in the statistical analysis

Your profile

To be employed as a research assistant, you must have a master's degree in nutrition or public health, or a similar field deemed equivalent.

You also must have:

  • Experience in studies within the field of nutrition and chronic kidney disease;
  • Experience in studies evaluating nutritional assessment;
  • Experience in studies evaluating the nutrition composition of diets
  • Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English
 

Furthermore, it is an advantage to have:

  • Experience on assessing nutrition surveys by the classification on foods according to the “NOVA Food classification system”
  • Knowledge of SPSS programs 

As an individual, you have strong initiative and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
