The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 540 employees and a revenue 2023 of 530 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.

Aging Research Center (ARC), a division within NVS, is located at KI Campus Solna, Stockholm. It is a multidisciplinary academic environment, representing medicine (e.g., neurology, epidemiology, psychiatry, geriatrics), psychology (e.g., cognition, structural, functional, and molecular brain imaging), and social gerontology (e.g., sociology, public health, social epidemiology, social work). The center has around 70 employees, it has a strong focus on research with unique research resources, such as large-scale longitudinal studies and nationwide registries.

Your mission

We are looking for a research assistant who can contribute to a project aimed at investigating the harmful consequences of impaired sense of smell among older individuals using longitudinal and population-based data. The project will focus on the relationship between olfactory loss and potential follow-up effects such as depression, loneliness, and malnutrition.

We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant who will work under the primary supervision of Dr. Ingrid Ekström. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to quantitative analyses of data from two longitudinal population-based studies: 1) The Swedish National Study on Aging and Care in Kungsholmen, an ongoing longitudinal population-based cohort study with more than 20 years of follow-up of individuals aged 60 and older, and 2) Betula, a longitudinal study on aging, memory, and dementia that has been ongoing in Umeå for over 25 years. The tasks will include assistance with data cleaning, data harmonization, statistical analyses, results evaluation, and contributing to the writing of articles.

This is a full-time (100%) position for 6 months.

Your profile

The successful candidate is expected to have:
1. A degree in psychology or equivalent at the time of employment.
2. Experience in neuropsychological assessments and quantitative analyses of data related to cognitive decline and dementia.
3. Experience in working with neuropsychological tests, data collection, and analysis.
4. Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written. Proficiency in Swedish or another Scandinavian language, both spoken and written, is advantageous.
5. Strong ability to collaborate, work in a structured and meticulous manner, and independently drive their own work forward.
