Come and join the Pietrocola lab to work on a Cancerfonden Funded project. A research Assistant position is availalable to work in understanding the role of senescence in cancer and its interplay with the host immune system. We use state-of-the-art methods to induce and detect senescence, coupled with single cell transcriptomics and murine models of cancer.
The Pietrocola lab is part of the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, in the newly built and modern laboratory Biomedicum at Solna campus of Karolinska Institutet. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education, and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students.
The Pietrocola lab has recently uncovered a direct link between the activation of senescence and the activation of anticancer immune response. Nonethless, a limited number of therapeutic intervention efficiently activate senescence in cancer. In addition, senescent tumor cells develp the capaicty to evade immune clearence. The focus of our research is to identify novel drug combination to induce senescence in cancer and identify immunotherapy targets to eliminate residual tumor cells.
Our lab has an opening for a highly creative and motivated research assistant with an interest to perform doctoral studies in the future. We look for a candidate with proficiency and documented laboratory research experience particularly in senescence, immunology and cancer biology. Mandatory for this position is precendent experience with models of senescence and certified experience in working with animals (mouse).
The position will require independent work at the laboratory as well as extensive
collaboration with other experimental groups. Fluency in both oral and written English is necessary. Documented ability to analyze and present results orally and written is important.
The main duties include perform in vitro and in vivo experiments to evaluate the effect of drug combinations in inducing senescence in cancer cells and murine models of cancer. The applicant is expected to have a strong interest in senescence and cancer. The applicant will work in close collaboration with other PhD students, postdocs and researchers. The applicant is expected to actively perform experimental research, using animal models and in vitro models, and present results to general and specialized audiences.
