Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). The department is situated at campus Solna. Further information can be found at http://ki.se/en/meb

At the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB), Karolinska Institutet, several prospective clinical studies in cancer are ongoing. The Cancer Genomics team at MEB is responsible for prospective analysis of patient material from these clinical trials. These involve >50 hospitals in six European countries. The two largest trials are the ProBio study (www.probiotrial.org) and the ALASCCA study (https://ki.se/mmk/alascca-studien). The team is led by senior researcher Johan Lindberg and is part of a larger research community (~25 people) led by Professor Henrik Grönberg. The ALASCCA study is a collaboration between Anna Martling's research group (Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery (MMK), KI) and Henrik Grönberg's research group (MEB, KI).

3) To perform enrichment on the DNA library of selected regions of the human genome using

in solution hybridization-based capture.

 4) Accurate reporting of the ongoing results of the weekly work according to a protocol.

 5) Optimizations of our current protocols. We are constantly looking to improve the assays and bioinformatics software used in the team.
