Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The brain profiling group at the department of neuroscience uses transcriptomics and antibody based techniques to investigate gene expression and protein distribution in the brain. The group is part of the human protein atlas project (www.proteinatlas.org). Main activities in the group are 1) determining gene expression in various brain regions of humans and other mammals (mice, pigs) using RNAseq, 2) creating antibody-based protein distribution maps of the human and mouse brain, and 3)  integrating innovative omics technologies with biological understanding to advance neuroscience research. In our group, you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge spatial omics techniques.

Your mission

We are looking for a candidate who is interested in working on brain mapping projects. The candidate will mainly work in the cerebellum project aiming to map the molecular and cellular organization of the human cerebellum but will also participate in other ongoing mapping projects. Tasks will include human tissue processing, tyramide signal amplification-based immunofluorescence, and high-resolution spatial transcriptomics experiments and advanced data analysis and machine learning using python.

Your profile

Required skills: We are looking for a candidate with a master’s degree in medical biotechnology or biomedicine with hands-on experience in immunofluorescence, microscopy, sequencing-based high-resolution spatial transcriptomics (Stereo-seq), experience in analysis of single cell RNAseq data and high-resolution spatial transcriptomics data using python and/or R.

Desired skills: Candidates that master all required skills and in addition have neuroscience, in particular cerebellum, knowledge will be preferred.
