Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

The position is available in the research group led by Senior Researcher Kristiina Tammimies at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health. The Tammimies lab focuses on understanding genetic and biological factors associated with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) such as autism spectrum disorder and how this information can be integrated to guide clinical work. The group performs high-resolution genetic analyses in different NDD cohorts and follows-up findings using bioinformatics approaches and cellular models. The research group is located in Biomedicum building as part of the women/children/ research theme.

The research group is part of the Center of Neurodevelopmental Disorders at Karolinska Institutet (KIND). KIND is a competence center for research, development, and education in developmental psychopathology. The center was established in collaboration between Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm County Council, aiming to generate high-impact basic research, improve clinical practice, and spread new knowledge to stakeholders.

Your mission

We seek a postdoctoral researcher with a background in genetics, bioinformatics, statistics, and/or functional genomics. Your role will be to participate in our projects where we analyze clinical, genetic, and -omics data. The goal is to understand how genes can predict neuropsychiatric diagnoses and be linked to specific symptoms or outcomes. In addition, we want to understand how these genes affect the development of different brain cells. You will be part of an international translational research group connected to the clinics. A more detailed research plan will be developed together with the successful candidate/s based on earlier expertise and interest areas. The position is for 2 years with possibility for extension.
