Fuzik Lab is looking for an applicant for a research assistant position (Circuit and Systems Neuroscience) at the Dept. of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. 

We study both physiological and pathological states of periaqueductal neuronal populations with viral tracing, Patch-clamp electrophysiology, Patch-Seq (Fuzik et al., Nature Biotechnology 2016, Fuzik et al. PNAS 2019), ex vivo all-optical voltage imaging and Voltage-Seq (Csillag et al. 2023, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37474808/) in vivo optogenetics, and add a translational angle using systems neuroscience approaches (behavior tests, head-fixed in vivo electrophysiology (Calvigioni, Fuzik et al. 2023 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37349481/ ).

Your mission

The applicant will join an active, enthusiastic, and well-equipped group studying fundamental properties of periaqueductal neuronal pathways and neuromodulation primarily in panic and anxiety including the aspect of sex differences.

Your profile

A research assistant candidate with a life science background and with a recent Masters graduation is preferred. Expertise in programming (Python, Matlab) is essential, documented experience in mouse behavior tests is preferred, experience in advanced data analysis, electrophysiology and/or imaging techniques will be considered and positively evaluated.
