The Department of Global Public Health is an interdisciplinary department with the aim of deepening the knowledge of how the population's health can be improved at the local, national and global level. The research at the department aims to map the determinants of health, as well as to develop and evaluate individual-oriented and structural measures to improve health. Many of the department's researchers are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision-makers at regional, national and international level. At the department there are 12 research groups, around 110 research students and around 140 employees.
This position is placed in the research group PRIME Health. The research group focuses on early prevention and community-based intervention research for better health at the population level.
We are looking for a person with an interest in and expertise in intervention research with a focus on physical activity to work in a FORMAS/Cancerfonden-funded project where 15 schoolyards over 3 years are being reconstructed with greenery for a better environment and to promote schoolchildren's physical activity. The project is a collaborative project between the City of Stockholm, Cancerfonden, Arwidssonstiftelsen and Karolinska Institutet that aims to develop evidence-based guidelines for how to build environmentally friendly schoolyards that promote children's physical activity.
The main task is the production of scientific articles for publication. The applicant is also expected to participate in data collection at schools as well as plan and carry out statistical analyses, present at conferences and participate in writing research applications.
The position is full-time and time-limited to 2 years, with the possibility of extension.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
We are looking for a motivated prospective postdoctoral fellow with a doctoral degree in public health or physical activity and ambitions for a research career with a background in and knowledge of intervention research with a focus on physical activity. Furthermore, very good knowledge of spoken and written English, experience in scientific writing and processing of accelerometer data is required. Good statistics skills (Stata/R or similar) are also a requirement. The applicant must have experience in independently analyzing large amounts of accelerometer data. Experience in intervention research, epidemiology, research on children and knowledge of large-scale data collection with accelerometers is advantageous. The applicant should also have good cooperation and communication skills.
