Research Specialist in Neuroepidemiology

We are looking for a research specialist to contribute to improved health for persons living with multiple sclerosis (MS). Join our research group in Neuroepidemiology which consists of clinicians, researchers, postdoctoral fellows and PhD students. We are an exciting group working at the intersection between immunology, epidemiology and clinical neurology with researchers who provide a welcoming workplace.

Your mission

The research specialists mission is to assist in the study of long-term outcomes in persons with MS exposed to disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) using high-quality prospectively collected data from nationwide registries. Specifically, we plan to evaluate the long-term safety of MS DMTs in the general MS population, and in pregnant women with MS. The proposed work will include collaboration between epidemiologists, statisticians, and clinicians working within the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Neuro Division.

The successful candidate will work with our research team to design and conduct research relevant to the research group’s agenda while receiving advanced training to enhance professional skills and research independence. The time will be devoted to data and project management, establishing standard operating procedures (SOPs), data analysis, report and manuscript preparation and career development. The candidate will be asked to collaborate with others, including graduate students, and provide their expertise in other projects.

Eligibility requirements

The successful candidate should have:

• Experience with large health-related datasets as well as being an independent programmer with expertise in R, STATA, SAS, or Python and with advanced knowledge of relevant computational or statistical methods.
• Education in epidemiology/public health, biostatistics or computer science.
• Proven excellent scientific writing skills and strong oral communication skills in English.
• Several years of working experience in applied biostatistics in epidemiology or similar areas in the medical field.
• Ability to initiate, conduct and publish successful research projects, as evidenced by a track record of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals in the medical field.

Eligible for employment as a research specialist is a person who has demonstrated scientific expertise and has completed a doctoral degree or has a foreign degree that is considered equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree and documented research work after the defense.

Assessment criteria

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown:

• Clinical experience and the ability to communicate popular science as we work closely with patient representatives, clinical researchers and nurses.
• Knowledge of multiple sclerosis and other neuroinflammatory diseases.
• Strong presentation skills.
