The Division of Insurance Medicine, Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet, is a leading center for research about sickness absence, morbidity, work, and life situation. Your mission

We are looking for a research specialist who will work in different projects about associations between life situation, morbidity, and sickness absence. We conduct both observational and intervention studies.

The projects are interdisciplinary and you will work closely with other researchers and statisticians. Your duties will primarily involve analysing data, some data management, writing manuscripts and grant applications. The work will be conducted in collaboration with the PI and other project members, and places high demands on flexibility and good collaboration. You are encouraged to develop your own ideas and work towards advancing your own independent line of research within the area.

Eligibility requirements

Documented experience of epidemiological studies is required for the position. Good knowledge of spoken and written English is essential. The applicant shall show a high degree of conscientiousness, initiative, and independence. The work is done in close cooperation with project managers and other project participants and requires flexibility and good collaboration skills. We also attach great importance to personal suitability. 

Eligible for employment as a research specialist is a person who has demonstrated scientific expertise and has completed a doctoral degree or has a foreign degree that is considered equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree and documented research work after the defense.

Assessment criteria

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • Experience of analyses in, e.g., SAS, STATA, SPSS, or R
  • Skill in scientific writing
  • Experience of working with nationwide Swedish registers

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • Experience within insurance medicine research
  • Experience of working with large databases of survey or register data
  • A structured and flexible way of working
  • Good knowledge in spoken and written Swedish
  • Published in international journals of high quality

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
