The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). We will collect a novel complete social network data from schools and study how health behaviors (traditional and alternative nicotine product use) spreads in social networks. Our team is truly interdisciplinary combing epidemiology, statistics, and social sciences.

Your mission

The research assistant will organize data collection, collect the data in schools, clean the data, and contribute to the analysis and writing the reports of the first findings.

The position is temporary for 6 months with the possibility to be extended for 6 more months.

Your profile

The ideal candidate should have an interest in social epidemiology or sociology. Good writing skills is important and basic statistical knowledge is necessary too. The candidate needs good skills in English and Swedish, both written and spoken. Previous experience in organizing research or data collection (especially in a school setting) is desirable.

We expect the candidate to take an active role in the project and be willing and able to work independently.
