A postdoctoral research position is available in the Unit of Integrative Epidemiology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine. Our research group focuses on identifying risk factors and prognostic indicators for neurodegenerative diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson's disease (PD), and various forms of dementia. Our research leverages unique register data, longitudinal cohort data, and case-control studies in Sweden and beyond and we collaborate closely with the Neurology Clinic at the Karolinska University Hospital, to advance our understanding of these diseases. This position is for a period of one year and can start immediately.

Your mission

The successful candidate will be responsible for a multiomics analysis of ALS, focusing on integrating genomics, metagenomics, and proteomics data. Additionally, the candidate will participate in a research project focused on identifying pathways to lead the clinical diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases. This research will use unique research data collected in the Stockholm region as well as national register data in Sweden, France, Australia, and the UK.

The postdoctoral researcher will join an established research group that includes senior epidemiologists, statisticians, and clinicians. 

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

The successful candidate must have a background in bioinformatics and epidemiology. Experience in multiomics data analysis, systems biology, register-based studies using advanced computational techniques (e.g., disease pathway or human disease network analyses) are especially meritorious. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong record in scientific publications and collaboration.
