The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Research at the department is focused on how different societal and individual factors affect population health, and to develop and evaluate structural and individual-oriented interventions. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department has 12 research groups, about 110 PhD students and about 140 employees.

The position will be within the research group Implementation and quality (IMPAQT) led by Claudia Hanson. The work will also link to the group working on maternal and perinatal health and climate change hosted at the Clinical Epidemiology Department and within the reproductive, maternal, perinatal and pediatric epidemiology research group. Your will find a unique opportunity to be part of large international consortia with members in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe and strong links to leading institutions within the field in Europe and beyond.

This is a full time position, temporary for 2 years, with a possible extension.

Your mission

You will work with studies using quantitative and qualitative methods. You will lead and support paper writing and you will also support management and coordination. We also expect some engagement in teaching, supervising students at MSc and PhD level as well as contributing to new grant applications. Thus, we are looking for an independent researcher with strong skills in both, quantitative and qualitative methods.

The applicant should be willing to perform duty travels as required.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

You must have:

  • A doctoral degree in epidemiology, global health, public health, or similar.
  • Strong publication record, particular as first author.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in project management.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English and Swedish language is required, both in speaking and in writing.
  • Experience of quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • The candidate should have strong team-working, intercultural communication and collaboration skills.

The following aspects are an asset:

  • Interest and/or experience in reproductive, maternal and perinatal health.
  • Interest and/or experience in climate change, environmental health and emerging infectious diseases.
  • Experience in management of projects and interdisciplinary and multicultural collaboration.
  • Interest in mentoring and supporting young master´s students in writing papers.
  • Considerable experience in scientific grant and report writing.
  • Good knowledge in speaking French or Spanish.
