Postdoctoral Researcher in fat tissue immunometabolism

This post-doctoral position will be placed at the Department of Medicine Huddinge (MedH) at KI. At our department different areas of basic, translational and clinical research as well as educational activities are carried out in a dynamic and international environment. The department consists of several different units and this postdoc will be placed under the unit of Biosciences and Nutrition. The research group of Jurga Laurencikiene (PhD, Assoc Prof) is focusing on translational studies of adipose tissue immunometabolism. The candidate will also have an access to a collaborative network of translational researchers and clinicians working in the field not only at MedH, but at other KI departments.

Your mission

We are looking for a postdoc who is curious and eager to solve biological questions with focus on adipose tissue immune component and sex-specific regulation of adipose tissue immunometabolism. A postdoc will work on a projects related to a physiological and pathological function of adipose tissue inflammation as well as related to the effects of hormonal interventions on adipose tissue immune component.

The applicant, ideally applying for his/her first or second postdoctoral position, should have these qualifications:

• PhD in biology, biomedicine, medicine or another relevant field.
• Documented experience from work in a translational research environment and excellent skills in standard molecular biology techniques.
• Experience in cell culture work including primary cell systems.
• Experience in flow cytometry and advanced multi-colour flow cytometry.
• Excellent communication skills and fluent English.

Additional merits:

• Experience in handling analyses of large data sets, e.g. RNA-seq, proteomic, metabolomics data, multiparameter flow cytometry data.
• Knowledge of signalling pathways and transcriptional regulation mediated by inflammatory factors.
• A background in metabolism and/or immunology is highly meritorious but not an absolute requirement.
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn as well as the capacity to collaborate in teams.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
