The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of seven divisions in which both research and teaching are conducted. The department is involved in advanced research in both basic and applied research. All divisions operate in close contact with clinics at Karolinska University Hospital. The Division of Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine (BCM) focuses on the use of modified biomolecules, cells and cell products as novel therapeutic agents and the identification and study of suitable biomolecular and cellular targets for therapy and diagnosis.

Currently, the division BCM, Unit for Molecular Cell Biology and Gene Therapy Research, is looking for a motivated research assistant to study the tyrosine kinase BTK for resistance mutations by studying cell lines and tumor microenvironment in animal models.

The position is a special fixed-term appointment of 6 months (full-time).

Subject description

Our group has expertise in the field of tyrosine kinases, particularly the enzyme BTK for which inhibitors are used in leukemia therapy.

Your mission

As a research assistant, you will study BTK in both cell lines and animal models. The research will involve laboratory work including cell culture and animal studies, as well as different techniques in molecular biology.

Your profile

We are looking for a motivated individual with basic knowledge in cell biology.

To be relevant for the position you should also have:

  • A doctoral degree
  • Experience from studies in cell lines
  • Experience in working with animals
  • The ability to understand and communicate in English to be able to work independently.

It is an advantage to have experience of similar work. In this recruitment, we place great importance on personal characteristics.
