Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

Our unit conducts high-quality research in the field of eye and vision. As our research environment is closely integrated with the clinic care at St. Erik Eye Hospital and Karolinska University Hospital, we provide unique opportunities by creating a flow between basic, translational, and clinical research in the area of ophthalmology.

Your mission

This research project aims to elucidate the epidemiology of vision impairment and blindness in Inherited Retinal Dystrophies (IRD). The research is enabled by Swedish population-wide register-based data. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to work independently and formulate new hypotheses, handle complex datasets, apply for ethical and other permissions, order data from relevant government agencies, analyze data and lead on writing scientific papers and presenting results. There are opportunities to also combine research with some teaching.

The postdoc will join an established collaboration that includes experienced ophthalmologists, senior epidemiologists, statisticians, and collaborators from the industry sector. This postdoc position is for a period of two years and can start immediately.
