Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The research in Hildur Helgadottir´s research group is focused on malignant melanoma. One of the main objectives of the research is to identify biomarkers for therapy efficacy in sequential blood samples from patients with advanced melanoma receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors alone or in combination with radiotherapy, that is being assessed in an ongoing clinical trial, the PROMMEL study

Your mission

You will together with the group set up a project on EV associated biomarkers to decipher their predictive capacity in melanoma patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors and potential impact from radiotherapy. You will design and carry out proteomic profiling with front-line technologies, in an independent way, on EVs from sequentially collected clinical liquid biopsies (mainly plasma) from melanoma patients and relate to clinical outcome following treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors. You will also carry out proteomic profiling of plasma using oncology-immunology panels and screen for circulating ctDNA to do comparative analysis with the findings in EVs. You will be responsible for the execution of the planned project according to the set goals.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher with an interest in melanoma biology and treatment. You should hold great prior knowledge in tumor biology, and it is preferred that you already are familiar with tumor biomarkers in liquid biopsies including extracellular vesicle (EV) associated biomarkers. When joining us you will work in a multidisciplinary research group, who conducts clinical and translational melanoma research. The candidate should be capable of acquiring knowledge independently to develop ongoing projects.
