Description of the subject area

The applicant to this position will work in a group which research area is devoted to organization and operation of postural networks in health and disease.

Your mission

The applicant will be responsible for conducting electrophysiological and behavioral experiments, analysis of data and drafting manuscripts, as well as for supervision of Master students.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

The applicant should have expertise in surgery, histology, electrophysiological methods (recording of EMGs, extracellular and intracellular recording of neuronal activity), mice genetics, opto- and chemo-genetics, viral-tracing, Ca-imaging.

Assessment criteria

  1. Documentation of the mentioned above expertise in the publication list.
  2. National/international recognition of the applicant’s expertise reflected in commissions of trust.
  3. Ability to lead the project that is documented by the first authorship in publications.
  4. Experience in performing studies in the area of motor control.
  5. Awards which the applicant received after PhD-defense.
  6. Experience in supervision.

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • experience in research devoted to neural mechanisms underlying control of posture.

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
