Our research group is seeking a talented Research Engineer in Image processing to join our dynamic team of radiologists, MRI/CT physicists and radiographers. Our research group develops, validates and applies advanced imaging techniques within a fast-paced clinical environment. We work to gain pathophysiological insights and actionable quantitative imaging biomarkers with a special focus on neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative disorders. We have immediate access to the latest imaging technologies, including clinical 7 Tesla MRI and clinical photon-counting CT. As a research assistant you will be an integral part of our team that are constantly pushing the boundaries using the newest medical imaging technology.

Your mission

Your role in the team will be to specialize in the curation and processing of large-scale real-world observational data, including longitudinal MRI, neurologic, treatment and lifestyle registry-based information. Your mission is to take the lead in refining and maintaining post-processing pipelines on our Dockerized server. This involves optimizing data storage, pseudonymization streams, and implementing advanced analysis techniques in collaboration with clinical experts. Your commitment to structuring and meticulously documenting your work will serve as the foundation for high-quality scientific publications, showcasing the innovative strides made in the field. In our dynamic work environment, you'll have the flexibility to contribute remotely, fostering a convenient work arrangement. Your contributions will help advance the field of medical imaging and improve patient outcomes.

Your profile

To be considered for the position you need to have:

  • Master’s degree in Medical Technology, Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Documented experience in conducting biomedical imaging research at high-level institution(s) and producing peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience in management of large medical imaging datasets.
  • Excellent programming skills in languages/tools such as: Python, C++, MATLAB, Docker, Linux CLI, Tensorflow and Pytorch.
  • Practical experience working with virtualization and containerized environments such as Docker or Kubernetes with optimization in big data analyses.
  • Familiarity with fundamental software development principles: Documentation, version control, continuous integration and testing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with medical professionals and researchers to develop solutions that meet their needs.
  • Fluent spoken and written English skills.

It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Expertise in implementing machine/deep learning algorithms for image segmentation/classification.
  • Experience of conducting predictive modeling based on biological image data within a medical context.
  • Experience of deploying and managing machine learning models on AI/ML-focused compute clusters.
  • Documented experience in scientific writing.
  • Practical experience with working in international multi-center studies.
