At the Division of Rheumatology at the Department of Medicine Solna, we conduct research on diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system, inflammatory as well as non-inflammatory. The Division of Rheumatology offers good opportunities to clinical and translational research on unique patient groups from the clinic along with biomedical and experimental animal research. 

Your mission

You will work with research projects in autoimmune diseases, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in particular. Duties include independent work with coordination of projects and translational studies within SLE. In this key role, you will be entrusted with the management of our lab, with a primary focus on the organization and operation of biobanking for our projects, including sample handling (cell separation and other procedures, from draw to freezer). Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring the quality and integrity of our sample collection, a cornerstone for our translational studies. You will also contribute to the education of students and young investigators, and to the design and conduct of projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the biobank, maintaining meticulous records of sample acquisition, storage, and utilization.
  • Handle samples following study SOPs.
  • You will be actively involved in leading-edge -omics studies, utilizing your expertise to drive meaningful insights from complex biological data.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of research projects that bridge the gap between bench and bedside.
  • Mentor and collaborate with junior researchers, fostering an environment of scientific excellence and growth

Your profile

We are looking for you who have defended a doctoral thesis and pursued innovative research on and have a deep understanding of autoimmune diseases. You should be able to understand and speak Swedish at a basic level, and you should be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are of utmost importance, as the successful candidate will work closely with fellow researchers and partners from the clinic and patient organizations. Previous experience of working with the current tasks, including laboratory assistance procedures, and research within genetics, omics, and precision medicine in SLE is meritorious. Previous research of translational nature within immunology is strongly meritorious.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of eleven divisions and each division consists of several research groups.
