Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

We are looking for a Research assistant to join the Innate Immune Regulation team. The team studies how the activation of innate immune cells is controlled at the molecular level and is integrated in the Center for Infectious Medicine. We strive for multidisciplinary approaches to address research questions at the interface of molecular virus immunology and translational onco-immunology.

Your mission

As a research assistant in the Innate Immune Regulation team, you will support the team in identifying signals that enable innate cytotoxic natural killer (NK) cells to recognize virus-infected cells. You will also contribute to investigating how innate-like T cells discriminate between healthy cells and tumors.

You will work with a broad range of methodologies and advance the team’s scientific goals in a collaborative manner. You also will contribute to the scientific environment and work infrastructure of the team as well as the center.

Your tasks will include reporting of scientific results in oral and written form, participating in scientific meetings, and communicating effectively with your direct colleagues and broader scientific network.

Your profile

We are looking someone with a master’s degree in medical science with proven hands-on experience in multiparametric flow cytometry (high-dimensional analyses of immune cells and sorting of immune subtypes) and within a broad spectrum of cell culture techniques (leukemia and melanoma cell lines as well as primary endothelial cells, NK cells, and T cells). Demonstrated proficiency of processing human blood samples independently is also a requirement.

Excellent communication skills in English both in speech and writing are a requirement.

Expertise in molecular biology (including DNA/RNA isolation and PCR) and ELISA is meritorious.

Experience in presenting scientific data to international experts is a merit

Previous experience of working in the university sector is a merit.

Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic and highly motivated, has the ability to work independently and is a team player who enjoys contributing to a common goal. Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
