Our research interest is to understand the cellular dynamics that drive the formation of different components of the intervertebral discs during embryonic development, and the plasticity of adipose tissue in response to environmental changes (https://ki.se/en/bionut/cellular-and-molecular-mechanisms-underlying-intervertebral-disk-formation-and-diversity-and). We will mainly use single cell/nucleus RNA sequencing methods combined with genetic lineage tracing to tackle these scientific questions. Our findings will innovate the current research frontier in the fields of developmental and metabolic biology and inspire the develop of novel treatment strategy against spine-related and metabolic disorders.
The postdoc will study the transcriptomic profiles of genetically traced intervertebral disc cells and adipose tissue cells. The research work includes single cell/nucleus data analysis, confocal imaging, immunofluorescence and standard molecular biology techniques. The postdoc is expected to have the ability to independently drive research projects.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with strong independent working ability. To address the above-mentioned questions, the candidate must have significant experience in bioinformatic analysis of single cell/nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial sequencing data, demonstrated in the form of published research paper in high-quality internationally peer-reviewed journals. Previous experience in mouse handling, tissue sectioning, immunostaining, confocal microscopy and image processing will be an asset. Fluency in oral and written English, independency in research and good team-working spirit are required.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
