The position is located at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience in Mats Ramstedts research group. You have the opportunity to do take part in a research project about the consequences of social media use for young people. The position is a 20 % position as a Research Specialist.

Your mission

We are now looking for a research specialist to strengthen the department’s research into technology use and adolescent development. You will work within the framework of a project financed by FORTE. The work involves data analysis, producing scientific articles based on the research plan, project management and doctoral supervision.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

To be qualified, you also need to have documented scientific experience with research into young people's media use, mental health, and alcohol habits. Experience with quantitative analysis of longitudinal data, such as multilevel models, structural equation modelling, random intercept cross-lagged panel models, and latent curve models with structured residuals, is a requirement. Good written and oral skills in a Scandinavian language and English are also a requirement. 

Assessment criteria

Documented experience with advanced longitudinal data analysis and a strong publication record with several first author publications about media use and detrimental outcomes (e.g., social media, videogaming, alcohol use, mental health) is particularly meritorious. The successful candidate should also have documented experience in obtaining grants for research into the consequences of social media use among young people as well as experience with project management and data collections involving longitudinal data.

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
