The Lopez laboratory, in the Department of Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, has an open position for a Research Assistant to investigate the molecular mechanisms and complex social behaviors associated with rapid-acting antidepressant treatments. The project involves the implementation of animal models of stress and anxiety and requires the analysis of multimodal high-throughput molecular and behavioral data, to deconstruct the underlying mechanisms responsible for antidepressant treatment response.

Your mission

Suitable candidates should have significant experience in molecular biology and working with laboratory animals (rodents). The candidate should possess FELASA-certified knowledge and skills. Previous experience in neuroendocrinology and pharmacology is a plus. Advanced computational skills and knowledge of “Python” or “R” is a requirement. In addition, candidates most have hands-on experience working with In situ hybridization (RNAScope), and immunohistochemistry techniques. Advanced experience with microscopy techniques (confocal and fluorescence), as well as neuronal and cellular tracing techniques (e.g. Neurolucida) is required. Furthermore, candidates with knowledge or experience with in-vitro or in-vivo calcium imaging will be prioritized. Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a research assistant is one who has obtained at least a Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, pharmacology, or any related field. It is considered as an advantage if you have already completed your Master’s degree.
