Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) is a department with a strong focus on basic science. CMB conducts research and education in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer and infection biology.

Division and Duties
The postdoctoral project will be conducted in Jonas Frisén´s research group. Our research is focused on muscle regeneration in mammalian systems. We seek to describe the dynamics of muscle renewal in humans and identify novel molecular targets that play a central role in this process. We develop 3D models of heart regeneration from pluripotent stem cells to address these questions.

Entry requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a PhD in biomedicine or related area. We expect the candidate to have a detailed understanding of heart physiology and pathology on the cellular and organ level. Relevant expertise in molecular biology techniques (genomic DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR) and a broad scale of immunological and imaging techniques (immunocyto- and -histochemistry, confocal microscopy) is an absolute requirement.
The candidate needs to have reliable working knowledge in the generation 3D ex vivo systems, e.g., organoids and engineered heart tissue. Previous experience with cardiomyocyte isolation and primary cell culture work is a plus. Advanced level in both spoken and written English is a requirement.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
