The research team “Molecular Pharmacology of G protein-coupled receptors” within the Section of Receptor Biology and Signalling focuses on understanding the role of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) in health and disease. Of particular interest to us are understudied orphan GPCRs. We seek to recruit a research assistant to contribute to our projects.
We are particularly interested in the role of orphan GPCRs’ in blood cancer and obesity. Many of these receptors are highly expressed and/or mutated in these diseases. The successful applicant will focus on screening large sequencing datasets to investigate the mRNA expression levels as well as the presence and association of specific mutations of orphan GPCRs with diseases. Additionally, the researcher will contribute to drug discovery and development through in silico ligand docking screening.
The group is situated in the state-of-the-art Biomedicum building in Solna in proximity to the Karolinska Hospital and the Science for Life Laboratory. As such, the hired person will have the chance to interact and work in an international and multidisciplinary environment.
We are looking for a researcher with a master’s degree and a strong background in bioinformatics. The successful candidate must have experience in the analysis of RNAseq data, protein modelling, in silico screening and programming (Python, R). Lab experience in biochemical assays (e.g. immunoblotting), biophysical assays (e.g.bioluminescence resonance energy transfer assays) and others (e.g. confocal microscopy, molecular biology) is a merit. Fluency in English is a requirement.
