The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC have about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.

Description of the subject area

Discovery of therapeutics for the treatment of cancer.

Your mission

The aim of the project is to carry out cell biology studies to test diverse agents (biologicals and small molecule), characterize their mechanism(s) of action and to evaluate their potential as anticancer agents. In a second phase, these agents will be tested in preclinical models.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

Assessment criteria

The candidate will be evaluated with regards to his/her knowledge of the cancer biology literature and hands-on experience at the experimental level.

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • A strong background in cancer cell biology, molecular biology, signaling and metabolic pathways and/or drug discovery.

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • Experience with various preclinical models for cancer. 

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
