The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC have about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations. Our laboratory is located at the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab, http://www.scilifelab.se/) in the Karolinska Institute campus. SciLifeLab is equiped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and core facilities, and is home to one of the largest sequencing cluster in Europe.
Our group combines experimental and computational work, and aims to develop and apply novel genome-wide techniques to address fundamental biological questions with medical implications. We are especially interested in how subtle variations in gene expression can lead to differential cellular phenotypes and are passionate about RNA biology (http://pelechanolab.com/). You will have the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary and international environment and combine the development of state-of-the art genome-wide approaches with the molecular dissection of fundamental biological problems.
Are you interested to work on interdisciplinary project across multiple European countries? Would you like to develop cutting-edge genome-wide technologies to study RNA localization, translation and increase our understanding of RNA life? Come and join us at SciLifeLab.
The available research engineer position concerns developing and applying novel genomic approaches to study gene expression and mRNA life across Ascomycota. The candidate will focus on stablishing novel experimental and computational pipelines to enable the high-throughput generation of high-quality genomic data.
The candidate will perform original research, contribute to the training of junior colleagues, and acquire the required experimental and computational skills necessary for the completion of the project. The candidate will coordinate sample and data exchange between Sweden, Germany and Belgium in the context of a recently awarded ERC Synergy grant. The candidate is expected to communicate the scientific results contributing to the writing scientific papers and by attending scientific meetings.
