The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. The research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 520 employees and a revenue 2022 of 518 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.
At the Division of Nursing, our vision is to make a decisive contribution to improving people's health through research, education and interprofessional cooperation with a scientific basis in nursing. The nursing research area at the department is top-ranked in the world and there are good opportunities to apply for grants at KI, for example through the graduate school in health sciences. Education is conducted at basic level (the nursing program), advanced level (specialist nursing programs) and at doctoral level. The department has around 100 employees and around 20 registered PhD students.
The discipline of nursing is based on humanistic values and ethics of caring, and is founded on the experiences, reactions and needs of human beings throughout their lives. Nursing knowledge is applicable at individual, group, and societal level. The Division of Nursing strives to be a global leader in nursing research, contribute to evidence-based guidelines and health care practice, and support the development of nursing to shape the future of the healthcare context. Research in nursing aims to find solutions that lead to improved health, increased patient safety and sustainability, as well as a higher degree of person-centered care. The focus of the research at the division is patient's participation and transition in areas such as mHealth, ambulatory care, fundamentals of care, support to caregivers and precision health as well as method development.
The focus for the employment is on education and research. We are looking for a person who with great commitment wants to lead and develop our education and research in the subject area of nursing. Important for our assignments for teachers is to ensure research-based education in nursing. The employment includes teaching assignments and pedagogical development in our nursing programs on both first and second level. This employment also includes participation in research education, own research and academic leadership.
The duties will be worked out and adjusted from the applicant’s competence and interest but also from the needs of the division and can be adjusted over time.
To be eligible for the employment as Senior Lecturer with focus on education and research, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated excellent pedagogical expertise and good scientific expertise (See the instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet).
In order to be qualified for the position, the applicant must have documented experience in education and research in nursing and an ongoing, high-quality scientific production in the field.
The nursing program and specialist nursing programs at KI are conducted and examined in Swedish. Therefore, the applicant must have good knowledge and skills in the Swedish language (C1 level according to the common European reference scale GERS).
The applicant shall also have completed 10 weeks of courses on teaching in higher education (or have equivalent competence), as indicated in the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institution.
The Senior Lectureship has a focus on education and research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: scientific expertise (2), pedagogical expertise (3) and leadership, development and collaboration expertise (2).
For employment as Senior Lecturer at Karolinska Institutet, the eligibility requirements and assessment criteria stated in the Instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure 3.2.2 are applied in relation to established profile of employment.
When assessing the pedagogical expertise, particular emphasis will be placed on experience from different teaching methods and pedagogical management tasks, as well as independence in planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching. When assessing the scientific expertise, emphasis will be placed on research in the subject of nursing.
After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
