The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.
Our department consists of researchers, doctoral students, biostatisticians, data collectors and database administrators as well as administrative personnel, in total some 270 staff. The department is situated at campus Solna. Further information can be found at http://ki.se/en/meb
The geriatric pharmacoepidemiological group’s mission is to investigate and improve drug utilization among older adults. Our research areas include inappropriate medication use, polypharmacy, register-based pharmacoepidemiology, medication use during the Covid-19 pandemic and inequality in medication use. Besides medication use, we also conduct research in related areas such as health, Covid-19, and use of health- and eldercare in older adults. The research group is led by Professor Kristina Johnell. We belong to the aging epidemiology research group at MEB.
The Postdoctoral Researchers will take part in planning and conducting research studies, including data management, data analyses and manuscript writing. The Postdoctoral Researchers will be involved in supervision, teaching, dissemination of research findings, grant writing and production of research articles. Production of research articles for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and grant applications will be central activities. The position also includes support and coordination in national and international collaborations and projects.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
Personal characteristics is of great importance in the assessment of the applicants. The applicant must be able to work independently and multidisciplinary, take own initiatives, and have excellent collaboration skills.
