Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Lopez laboratory, in the Department of Neuroscience at the Karolinska Institutet, has an open position for a Research Assistant to investigate the molecular mechanisms and complex social behaviors associated with stress-related psychiatric disorders and their treatments, using animal models.

The project involves the implementation of animal models of stress and anxiety and requires the analysis of multimodal high-throughput data including: (1) automated behavioral tracking systems, and (2) high-throughput genomics data (bulk RNA-seq and single-cell RNA-seq), to deconstruct the molecular mechanisms and behavioral “language” associated with stress exposure and treatment response.  https://ki.se/en/neuro/lopez-laboratory-neurobiology-of-stress-and-treatment-response

Your mission: Suitable candidates should have significant experience working with laboratory animals (mice) and possess good knowledge of animal models of stress and anxiety. Good experience in molecular biology, pharmacology, and animal behavioral tests is required. The candidate should possess FELASA-certified knowledge and skills. In addition, candidates most have experience working with the analysis of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies. Advanced computational skills and knowledge of “Python” or “R” is a requirement. Previous hands-on experience with the analysis of (1) single-cell data (10x Genomics), or (2) automatic behavioral tracking or pose estimation tools (e.g., DeepLabCut, or SLEAP), is a plus. Furthermore, candidates with knowledge or experience with machine learning methods will be prioritized. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating and collaborative environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The Lopez laboratory is strongly committed to equity, diversity and inclusiveness. Applicants from different backgrounds (cultural, racial, gender, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic) are encouraged to apply.

Your profile: Qualified to be employed as a research assistant is one who has obtained at least a Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, pharmacology, or any related field. It is considered as an advantage if you have already completed your Master’s degree.
