The Lymphoma and Leukemia Research Group led by Adjunct Professor Georgios Rassidakis in the Department of Oncology-Pathology has one research assistant vacancy. The research of the group is focusing on the mechanisms of lymphomagenesis and leukemogenesis as well as the mechanisms underlying anti-tumor immune responses in human lymphomas. Our research laboratory at Bioclinicum (Solna) and the facilities in KI provide an excellent environment for research.

Your mission

The employment includes experimental laboratory-based work, data processing, data analysis and data reporting. The successful candidate is also expected to contribute in the training of graduate and undergraduate new students. The research assistant will carry out experiments in collaboration with other group members of our Laboratory as well as other research groups in Bioclinicum and core facilities in ScilifeLab. In addition, the research assistant will be responsible for the maintenance of the laboratory including the cell culture room.

The research assistant is expected to use a variety of in vitro and in vivo models of lymphomas and leukemias including cell cultures, PDX (patient derived xenografts) and mouse models and perform various basic molecular biology assays at the DNA, RNA and protein level. In addition, the Research Assistant will analyse clinical sample from patients for clfinicopathologic and prognostic studies on new biomarkers in lymphomas and leukemias using immunohistochemical methods.

Your profile

Qualifications:

The candidate for the research assistant position should have:

  • A Master´s degree in molecular biology or cell biology and well-documented hands-on experience in a variety of cellular and molecular biology techniques.
  • Applicants who have not completed a a Master´s degree at the end of the application period will not be considered.
  • English language proficiency (at a level of a C1 certificate) in both written and spoken English is a request.
  • Communication skills as well as the ability to work efficiently as part of a team is required.

Merits:

  • Previous experience in the research field of lymphomas and leukemias is a strong merit.
  • Preferably, the successful candidate should have experience of working as a research assistant.
  • Excellent skills in basic molecular biology techniques (DNA, RNA and protein level) and immunohistochemical methods as well as use of in vitro and in vivo study models of cancer are highly preferable.
