Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Your mission

We are looking for a research assistant to contribute to the project on resilience against physical losses and diseases in older adults. The aims of the project are: 1) to develop a measure of physical resilience in old age based on the mismatch between physical functioning and physical disease burden; 2) to investigate if physical resilience could explain inter-individual differences in survival; and 3) to explore how the modifying effects of physical resilience vary across several individual and contextual factors.

We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant who will be working under the main supervision of Dr. Serhiy Dekhtyar. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to quantitative analyses of data on clinical diseases, functionality, mortality, and other individual and contextual indicators derived from the Swedish National Study on Aging and Care in Kungsholmen, an ongoing longitudinal population-based cohort study with more than 20 years of follow-up of persons aged 60 years or older. Tasks will include data cleaning and preparation, statistical analysis, results appraisal, team discussion, and contribution to manuscript preparation.

This is a full-time, temporary position with a duration of 6 months.

Your profile

The successful candidate is expected (1) to hold a Master’s degree related to epidemiology or public health sciences by the time of employment; (2) to have previous experience in quantitative analyses of data from a population-based cohort study, preferably using STATA statistical software; (3) to have excellent English language skills. Having previous experience in research on indicators of physical functioning, particularly in older adults will be advantageous. Knowledge of resilience theories and models will be positively appraised.

This position requires good collaboration skills as well as ability to take responsibility and work independently.
