We are looking for a research assistant for the Aging Epidemiology group at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Karolinska Institutet in Solna. The research in the group concerns several different areas, such as twin studies, pharmacoepidemiological studies and molecular epidemiological studies, with a focus on health and disease during aging. Our main research interest is human biological aging; how to measure it in human cohorts, understanding causal pathways in aging and identify geroprotectors to repurpose for age-related diseases. Markers of human biological aging can be telomere length, epigenetic clocks, functional aging, frailty index, etc.
The duties for this position are to develop models for biological aging by using biomarker data from population-based cohorts. These measurements can then be used in analyzes to look at the relationships between aging and disease. The cohort data that is used can come from LifeGene, the Swedish Twin Registry or UK Biobank, all of which are large-scale population-based data collections. The tasks include, among other things, getting familiar with the research field around biological ageing, handle and analyze data, as well as documenting the project. The work is carried out with the support of a team of researchers, but the applicant is expected to be able to carry out tasks independently.
The position is a fixed-term employment for a maximum duration of one year.
We are looking for a thorough and motivated research assistant with good ability to work both independently and in a group. You should have a strong interest in biological aging and in research in geroscience. We attach great importance to personal qualities in this recruitment.
